INSIGHT

“On a 5-star scale, I give Sonnie’s INSIGHT service 10 stars" - Shveta

One 3-hour conversation

$500

Two 2-hour conversations

$600

“Don't tell Sonnie, but I think the INSIGHT service is worth at least 3 times as much as he charges. It is so much more than just a dry financial advice conversation. If you are thinking about it, I am very sure you will not regret going ahead." - Jacqui

“Sonnie's INSIGHT service helped us to think through both our high-level financial situation and our longer term wealth planning objectives. His conversational, open approach made us feel super comfortable in discussing our goals, encouraged us to challenge our assumptions, and helped us to see the bigger picture beyond the day to day. We genuinely enjoyed it" - Mike

A different perspective

We help you see the immediate options available to you from a different perspective.

An experienced conversational partner

Could you have this sort of conversation with a loved one? Yes.

Would that loved one have had hundreds of similar conversations? Probably not.

And would they feel an obligation to be a cheerleader, and are they likely to tell you want you want to hear? Probably...

Would you rather chat with someone who is dispassionate and has a track record of having this exact sort of conversation?

We're not selling you anything

We have structured our business so that we don't sell you ANYTHING.

We aren't using this service as a "loss leader" to sell a specific strategy or product. It's about helping you make the right decisions based on YOUR circumstances, needs, and objectives.

A second opinion

INSIGHT is the perfect second opinion service. If you've received advice, or you're thinking of making a decision, and want to get a second opinion before you go ahead, we can do this. Our service model isn't based on implementing your advice or encouraging you to do so.

A devil's avocado

(A "devil's avocado" is a friendly version of a "devil's advocate".)

If you share something with me and it’s unclear, I will ask you to clarify.

If there’s something that you say that seems inconsistent with what you’ve said at other points in our conversation, I will bring it up.

At times, I will push back, and challenge you. In a friendly way.

When it comes to your goals, I will ask for clarity. For example, why do you want to achieve a specific goal? Is it an end goal or an instrumental goal toward some other end or value?

Five-star guarantee

We are confident that you will find this process valuable.

We don't invoice until after our conversation.

We also offer you a "five star" guarantee. Only pay our fee in proportion to whether it's a five-star service.

“It's amazing how [meeting with Sonnie] focuses us. We discuss things a lot more openly with [Sonnie] than we do just the two of us” - Andrew & Loretta

“It was really valuable having a conversation about our money situation with Sonnie, who was able to ask us questions we hadn’t thought to ask ourselves, and gave us a fresh perspective on things. In particular, he helped us to see the value of linking our lifestyle and life goals with our finances. We gained confidence in sticking with our lifestyle/ financial goals and not feeling pressured by how other people are living theirs. 'Just do you'" - Richard & Lucy

Interesting, useful conversations

A lot of people tell me that the conversation is one of their best in years. It’s wide-ranging.

Yes, I will ask you about the dollars and the cents. But that’s only a small part of the conversation.

We spend the majority of this time talking about the soft stuff – about what you want to achieve; what's important to you; your concerns and the things that keep you up at night; and much more.

If you have children, I’ll ask about them. I’ll ask whether they have any special needs, if you have any special dreams or fears for them, and what sort of “inheritance” you want to leave for them (not just in financial terms).

I’ll ask about your broader family situation. We talk about whether anyone might become dependent on you in the future (financially or otherwise), or whether their situation might impact you in one way or another.

I’ll ask a variety of hypothetical questions. What would you do if you had all the money you could ever want? What would you do if you only had five or ten good years left? If we stepped five years into the future and things had gone really well, what has happened between now and then?

I also ask what don’t you want to happen. What are the risks you're exposed to, and how can you manage them?

I ask you questions to get an insight into your psychological tolerance for risk. What does “risk” to you? How do you balance different types of risks? How would you respond to a significant downturn? When, and to what extent, would you regret losing money versus missing out on an opportunity? What thoughts and emotions are tied up to your relationship with investing?

I ask you about how you structure your financial affairs and your succession arrangements.

I ask you about your cash flow needs for the coming future.

When it comes to your specific goals and objectives, how do you prioritise them?

Are there any financial decisions that you're weighing up at the moment?

And much more.

What you get

The INSIGHT service consists of either one 3-hour conversation or two 2-hour conversations. Following this conversation, you will receive a short email summarising this (these) conversation(s), and describing any advice provided during these conversations.

You may receive advice during these conversations. However, this will be limited advice. Consider this "advice" to be more akin to me "thinking out loud" about your situation, providing breadcrumbs or suggestions for you to consider further. If you're looking for more definitive, comprehensive advice, which involves considering all of the nuances of your situation in a less rushed manner, you can engage Fairhaven Wealth's more comprehensive (and expensive) planning service.

INSIGHT's value proposition isn't related to any specific advice. You should consider any "advice" to be ancillary to what you'll get out of the conversation(s). (In fact, historically it has been positioned as a "no advice" service.) The INSIGHT service is about being able to get a different perspective on your situation, to help inform your own decisions relating to your finances and your life in general
